Program Description
House Bland-Friend sends text messages (SMS) to members who opt in, for the purpose of providing timely information related to social events organized through the Platform. These messages are informational and transactional in nature — they are not promotional or marketing messages.
Types of Messages
By opting in to SMS notifications, you may receive the following types of text messages:
- Event reminders: Notifications before an upcoming event you have RSVP’d to (for example, the day before or the morning of an event), including the event name, time, and location.
- RSVP nudges: A reminder that you have not yet responded to an event invitation, asking if you plan to attend.
- Last-minute updates: Time-sensitive changes to an event you are attending, such as a change of location, time, or cancellation.
- Waitlist notifications: An alert that a spot has opened up at an event you were waitlisted for.
Message Frequency
Message frequency varies based on the number of events scheduled. You can expect to receive approximately 2 to 8 text messages per month, depending on event activity. During weeks with no events, you may receive no messages at all.
Consent
By providing your phone number on House Bland-Friend and selecting “Email + Text” or “Text only” as your notification preference, you expressly consent to receive the types of informational and transactional text messages described above from House Bland-Friend at the phone number you provided.
Your consent is entirely voluntary. Providing your phone number and opting in to SMS notifications is not a condition of membership or participation in House Bland-Friend events. You may participate fully using email-only notifications.
Opting Out
You may opt out of receiving text messages at any time using any of the following methods:
- Reply STOP: Reply STOP, UNSUBSCRIBE, or CANCEL to any text message you receive from us. You will receive a single confirmation message and no further texts will be sent.
- Platform settings: Log in to House Bland-Friend, go to your profile settings, and change your notification preference to “Email only” or “None.”
- Contact an administrator: Message any Platform owner or co-host and ask them to disable SMS notifications for your account.
Opting out of SMS will not affect your ability to receive email notifications or use any other features of the Platform.
Opting Back In
If you previously opted out and wish to receive text messages again, you can update your notification preferences in your Platform profile settings at any time.
Costs
Standard message and data rates from your wireless carrier may apply. House Bland-Friend does not charge any fees for SMS messages. Please contact your wireless carrier for details about your messaging plan.
Privacy
Your phone number is collected and stored securely in our database. It is used solely for the purpose of sending you the text messages described in this policy. Your phone number is not sold, shared, rented, or disclosed to any third party for marketing or advertising purposes.
Your phone number is visible only to Platform administrators (owners and co-hosts) for the purpose of managing event communications. It is not visible to other regular members of the Platform.
When you reply to a text message from House Bland-Friend, your reply may be forwarded to the Platform administrators’ personal phones for the purpose of responding to your message. Your reply will include your name (as listed in your Platform profile) or your phone number.

Carrier Information
Supported carriers include but are not limited to: AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint, and all major U.S. wireless carriers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Changes to This Policy
